You know that Spring is here when the Elephant's Trunk Flea Market in New Milford throws open its gates on Sunday mornings.  Antique collectors, bargain hunters and just general browsers have been waiting all winter for a chance to find their next treasure, and the wait is almost over.

Sunday's forecast isn't great, currently calling for a windy day with temps in the upper 30's, but that shouldn't dampen the spirits of the Trunk fans. The flea market has been a New Milford tradition since 1976, and has really been growing in popularity over the last couple of years. It's been featured on the HGTV reality show Flea Market Flip, and that has brought bargain hunters from all over the place, convinced that they will find the next priceless treasure.

Traffic on Route 7 can get a little hairy through the area, especially on nice days. There are plenty of police directing traffic, but first-timers to the flea market still have a hard time navigating the pylons and closed cross roads. Note to noobs: the pylons are there for a reason, and the cops aren't amused when you try to cut through. Just follow everybody else, and you'll be fine.

Admission is $2 after 7 AM, with $20 early admission at 5:45 AM, and $40 super-early admission at 4:45. I've never done either of the early bird arrivals. You can usually find me flipping through one of the many used record bins. Keep up with all of the Elephant's Trunk happenings on their Facebook page.
