It's been a tough year for the folks at Eversource, but now they are trying to help out those hit especially hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The utility company announced late last week that they will be suspending disconnects to customers struggling financially to make payments during the holiday season.

Jessica Cain is the Vice President of Customer Operations, and according to newstimes.com, issued this statement:

With COVID-19 surging and the holidays approaching, suspending electric service disconnections for our customers is a step that will make a big difference during the holiday season. We’ll continue working with our regulators, elected officials and other stakeholders as the pandemic persists to evaluate next steps for resuming collections activities in an appropriate time-frame.

If you're an Eversource customer, here's how the process works. The company offers payment plans, and even includes a COVID-19 payment program. Once a customer sets up an active payment plan, that account cannot be disconnected for the duration of the plan. So to keep people protected through the holidays, Eversource has extended the date for enrollment in the plan until February 9, 2021.

If you are having trouble paying your bill, or just need more information about the plans extension, you can go online and visit their site at Eversource.com/BillHelp, or you can call Eversource at 800-286-2828.
