We love taking the kids to explore new things and children's museums are great for this. They are usually very hands-on, so the kids are having fun while they learn. We used to have to drive a distance to find places like this, but we were happy to discover a place very close to home.

Yesterday, we met a friend at EverWonder Children's Museum in Newtown. My friend had been there before and her son had been to a birthday party at the museum, but this was our first time. I had heard about it, but didn't realize how great this place is for kids.

It is a very hands-on museum and the kids had so much fun with all of the exhibits. We were there with a 5 year old (boy), a 4 year old (girl), a 2 year old (boy), and an almost 2 year old (girl). All four of the kids had so much fun. There is so much for them to explore and they would go back to favorites multiple times. We didn't expect to be there for long, but we were there for almost 2 1/2 hours and even then the kids didn't want to leave!

Here are the different exhibits we saw:

  • These were developed by the Sciencenter of Ithaca, New York and the Rochester Museum & Science Center, Rochester, New York (with funding from the National Science Foundation):
    • Visible Sound String
    • Theramin Sound Instrument
    • Windy Wonders
    • Three-Wheeled Racer Car Track
    • Magnet Table
    • Tornado Tubes
    • Swinging Art Harmonograph
    • Giant Pendulum
    • Swinging Pendulums
    • Dancing Wall
  • Other exhibits include:
    • Flight Lab
    • Young Explorer Zone
    • Tinker Lab
    • Imagination Playground Building Room
    • Ramp and Track Building Room
    • Magnet Wall

My son loved the Dancing Wall. He also, along with my friend's daughter, loved the Windy Wonders Exhibit. The older kids loved those exhibits as well as the building exhibits. I was pleasantly surprised at how much there was for them to do.

Everyone had so much fun and my daughter asked to have her birthday party there. So I was happy to find out that they do host birthday parties. For more info on that you can visit their website.
