Hand sanitizer in pouches that resemble juice containers are being recalled by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The hand sanitizers are distributed by Ashtel Studio, and have been recalled because the packaging looks very similar to kids drinks that come in pouches.

It was about a month ago that the FDA, along with poison control officials, warned parents of the danger of these hand sanitizer pouches that resemble kids snack and drink pouches.

The FDA released this statement about the recall on their website:

Ashtel Studios has announced a voluntary recall of all lots of licensed hand sanitizer packaged in .84 oz containers resembling food and drink pouches labeled with various children’s characters listed in the table below.

Here are some of the product names affected by the recall.

  • PAW Patrol Hand Sanitizer
  • JoJo Siwa Hand Sanitizer
  • Hot Wheels Hand Sanitizer
  • Barbie Hand Sanitizer
  • Trolls Hand Sanitizer
  • Minions Hand Sanitizer.

There is nothing wrong with these sanitizers, but health officials warn that children could easily mistaken any of the above mentioned sanitizers for drink or snack pouches due to their packaging.

These sanitizers contain high levels of alcohol, and according to wtnh.com, even a small amount, if ingested by a child, could cause severe complications, plus, the Center For Poison Control has seen an increase in calls about children drinking hand sanitizer since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

The FDA is asking parents to keep these products out of your child's reach, and if you think or know your child has ingested any type of hand sanitizer, call the Connecticut Poison Control Center immediately at 1-800-222-1222.
