I just got a call from one of my neighbors that lives in the Bunker Hill neighborhood of my hometown of Waterbury, and she told me that it's loud, smoky, and smelly, which is nothing out of the ordinary for Waterbury, but there is a big fire underway at the Albert Brothers Scrap Metal Yard on East Aurora Street.

Plumes of black smoke are lifting into the air, and the Waterbury Fire Department are on scene trying to get the blaze under control.

This is not going to be an easy blaze to take care of. If you've never been to Albert Brothers, it's an industrial cleanup nightmare. It's a scrap metal junkyard with oil and grease, lubricants, and liquids everywhere. Albert Brothers is a major Industrial scrap Metal and Ferrous Scrap Recycler. Aluminum, Copper, Lead, and Nickel Recycling. They also accept electronics, batteries, metals, wood, paper, and plastic for recycling.

According to wtnh.com, the fire broke out around 9:30 this morning, and crews have been pouring water onto the blaze which appears to be in the midst of one of the huge scrap piles of metal in the Albert Brothers yard.

East Aurora Street and all of the surrounding streets in this area are blocked off as crews try to contain this to the single scrapyard. If you are in the area, please try to avoid breathing this smoke. My Bunker Hill neighbor said that it's brutal and she lives in the neighborhood right behind Frankie's on Watertown Ave.

Fox News reporter, Lissette Nunez, took to Twitter to show the fire as it continues to evolve:
