Looks like three local Connecticut Friendly's locations will be closing their doors for good once their leases are up.

It's all part of a company wide move to close some 23 Northeast locations. According to patch.com, The company that operates these Connecticut restaurants, the Wilbraham, MA corporation, notified the franchisees Monday that it will be closing restaurants where the leases are due for renewal.

The three local Friendly's that will be closing are the Friendly's in Danbury on Newtown Road, The Southbury Friendly's in Heritage Village, and the Waterbury Friendly's at 544 Reidville Drive.

A letter was sent to each franchise on Monday from Friendly's CEO George Michel noting that 23 corporate-owned restaurants were closing, effective immediately.

While this was a tough decision, we are confident it will best position the brand for a bright future. Especially difficult is the impact these closures will have on the locations' wonderful employees, who we are working to support with opportunities in other locations or severance payments and other assistance.

You may remember Friendly's filled for bankruptcy back in 2011, and closed nine Connecticut locations in 2012.
