If you're looking for a great way to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, why not explore the Connecticut Wine Trail? It all starts right in our backyard in Brookfield.

Wine tasting and winery visits usually conjure up visions of Northern California, and if you've ever seen the movie Sideways, then you know what I mean.

Believe me, I've learned a lot from Miles and Jack in this movie. So much so, that I have been told I have an amazing palate when it comes to wine. That's funny because I couldn't tell the difference between a white or red, but I just take a page out of the movie, (the scene above), and all of a sudden, I'm a wine connoisseur.

Actually, at DiGrazia Vineyards in Brookfield, you don't have to be an expert to know they make some pretty impressive and tasty wines.

A few of my favorites are the Honey Blush - a sulfite-free blush wine, Wild Blue - a blueberry dessert wine with Brandy added, and Yankee Frost - made with late harvest Ravat and tastes like pineapple, grapefruit, lychee, apple, and honey.

The winery is located at 131 Tower Road in Brookfield, and tasting hours are as follows:

January through April 30: Sat. and Sun. 11 AM - 5 PM

May through Decemebr: 7 days a week 11 AM - 5 PM

You can also pick up your CT Wine Trail Passports and visit all of the vineyards on the trail. It's a great way to get a little Sideways right in our own backyard.
