If you "sin" by wickedly drinking sugary soda or smoke cigs and/or vape, it looks like you may be paying more for those "sins."

Does our Connecticut governor really think that jacking up the prices on soda, cigarettes, vapes, single-use plastic bags and deposits on alcoholic beverages are going to stop consumers from buying these products? Here's what Lamont told thechronicle.com:

These are the sins of the 21st century. Taxes aren't about generating revenue, but about changing behavior that negatively affects public health and the environment.

According to the Hartford Courant, here is what Governor Lamont pitched in his budget presentation: electronic tolls, sales tax increase, "sin" taxes, cutting more than $500 million on bonding annually or what he calls a "debt diet," an increase in the minimum wage to $15 per hour, paid leave, and a property tax credit.
