New Haven police are reporting that at least 70 people have overdosed so far today on the New Haven Green, and authorities are now investigating the cause.

Police and emergency officials are on the scene in New Haven today after at least 18 people have overdosed since 7 am this morning.

Even while police were holding a news conference talking about the health emergency, another overdose call came in, and that sent police running to assist.

Right now officials are saying they found people suffering from a variety of symptoms. Some were unconscious, nauseated or lethargic. According to nbcconnecticut.com, police and emergency officials say it's too early to know what the people took. Officials suspect it might have been K2, but they are waiting on test results.


So far emergency officials say there have been no fatalities.
