Watch Songwriter Hillary Lindsey Share the Stage With Lady Gaga in Nashville

Pop star Lady Gaga will be releasing a new album, Joanne, on Oct. 21, and the project includes three songs co-written with Nashville tunesmith Hillary Lindsey. Gaga stopped in Nashville, at the 5 Spot, on Wednesday night (Oct. 5) on her Dive Bar Tour and invited Lindsey onstage to help perform one of those three songs, "Million Reasons."

"I wrote this song with a Nashville native, Hillary Lindsey," Gaga told the crowd before performing "Million Reasons." "We sat on a couch together, and we were going back and forth, guitar and piano, and we were going, 'Why these men, you know?' All these men -- my dad, my boyfriend, all the men in my life -- they gave me a million reasons [to leave], but I just need one good one to stick around ... Ladies and gentlemen, Hillary Lindsey."

Lindsey has written songs for a number of big country names, including Dierks Bentley ("Bourbon in Kentucky," "Can't Be Replaced"), Sara Evans ("A Little Bit Stronger" and more) and Carrie Underwood ("Jesus, Take the Wheel," "Church Bells" and many others). Most recently, she won both a Grammy and a CMA for Little Big Town's "Girl Crush," which she co-wrote with Liz Rose and Lori McKenna.

Lindsey is also a co-writer on two more tracks on Lady Gaga's Joanne, "A-Yo" (which readers can hear around the 32:30 mark in the video above) and "Grigio Girls." A fan invited to a listening party for the project tells PopCrush that the disc has a tinge of country to it -- "sorta [like] if you took Dolly Parton, Lily Allen, Beck and Bruno Mars and threw them into a blender."
