Pawling Man Pinned Between Tractor Trailers in George Washington Bridge Accident Survives
A Pawling man is lucky to be alive after a gruesome-looking accident on the George Washington Bridge involving his vehicle and two tractor-trailers.
On Monday around 11:30 a.m., an accident involving two tractor-trailers and a passenger SUV was reported on the eastbound side on the George Washington Bridge upper level.
After the crash, the driver of the SUV Mercedes Benz, a 61-year-old man from Pawling, was trapped inside his vehicle. Port Authority Police Emergency Service Unit personnel and Port Authority Tunnel and Bridge Agents had to cut the man out.
The 61-year-old man was taken to Harlem Hospital for treatment for a broken left arm and contusions, police say.
Police didn’t release any information regarding the drivers of the tractor-trailers.
No tickets have been filed by police at this time. The accident caused delays on the bridge. All lanes were reopened to traffic shortly before 1 p.m.
