As the I-84 interchange project continues get ready for more traffic delays. Another local road will be closed weekday's between 9 AM and 3 PM.

According to newstimes.com the latest phase of the Interstate 84 interchange project has closed Second Avenue on weekdays.

The road will be closed weekdays and traffic will be rerouted between Rowan and North streets from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The project, and the closure is expected to take several months.

Work will also include adding new drainage spots, which is part of a $15 million project to improve the interchanges on I-84. Work began this past summer and is expected to be completed in August 2017.

The DOT hopes the project will help I-84’s traffic flow by reducing the backups to get on and off the highway, as well as improving nearby intersections.

There are also plans in the works to widen the off-ramps for exit 5 on both sides of I-84, as well as the addition of a new I-84 eastbound on-ramp for exit 6 and  the widening of the westbound off-ramp for exit 6 creating two right lines and a lane where cars can go straight or turn left. Auxiliary lanes and two through lanes will also be added at several intersections on Route 37. This should have cars move more efficiently all along Route 37.

So just keep in mind that a little patience now will hopefully lead to less traffic delay's in area's that have been plagued with congestion for years.
