The Indian Point Energy Center will be conducting a regular quarterly test of their emergency notification system today (May 30).

As part of this mornings test, sirens will sound at full volume between 10:30 and 11 AM. The test is expected to last for approximately four minutes and will be heard in Westchester, Rockland, Orange, and Putnam Counties.

Because this is only a test, you are not required to take any action, according to patch.com. When you hear the sirens, keep in mind that they are NOT a signal to evacuate. In the event of an actual emergency, you should tune into an Emergency Alert System television or radio station for information and instructions. To find a list of these stations, visit Indian Point's website.
