Even a pandemic can't keep the country's oldest amusement park closed. Lake Compounce just announced they will be re-opening for the summer.

As Connecticut starts to re-open slowly, more and more places that cater to large crowds have set their dates and new restrictions to get things rolling again. This time it's Lake Compounce Theme and Water Park.

In a press release to the media, the park set July 1 as the official re-opening date. The first five days will be reserved for season pass holders, then the general public will be welcome starting on July 6.

There will be a list of restrictions however that will comply with recommendations set by the Center for Disease Control & Prevention, and also protocol set by best practices within the amusement and attractions industries.

"The health and safety of our Guests and Team Members continues to be our number one priority as we work to welcome guests back to the park," said the theme park's representatives. "We will continue working with our local leaders, health experts and industry colleagues to ensure best practices are in place at Lake Compounce."

Here are some of the new safety measures that visitors will have to follow for the summer season:

First, if you're thinking about going to the park for the day, you must RSVP the day you want to go and purchase tickets in advance on line at lakecompounce.com, no tickets will be sold at the park this summer.

Park capacity will be limited, as will the number of people allowed on rides, restaurants, and other attractions.

Here are some of the other new rules in place at Lake Compounce for the summer of 2020:

All park visitors will have to undergo pre-entry temperature checks, if your temperature is 100.4 or higher, you will not be allowed in the park. Plus, masks must be worn at all times in the park, and CDC recommendations on cleaning, social distancing and sanitizing will be in effect.

The park also announced some good news for people who purchase a season pass. All 2020 season passes will also be honored for the 2021 season as well.
