Do you love to kayak? Do you enjoy helping out by raising money for worthwhile causes? Do I have an event for you!

Southern Connecticut State University is hosting a water sports competition on Lake Kenosia called Paddle4Peace on Saturday, August 5 to help raise funds for a new Reflection Garden on campus which will be the home for the SCSU Sandy Hook Memorial. Four educators who lost their lives in the Sandy Hook shootings were alumni of SCSU. They are Sandy Hook School Principal, Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung. Special education aide, Anne Marie Murphy, school psychologist, Mary Sherlach, and teacher, Victoria Soto. The garden and the memorial will honor these four women.

According to the website, picatic.com., the memorial garden and Sandy Hook Memorial are being designed to honor the four victims and to:

Provide a peaceful space on campus that promotes the values of dignity, respect, compassion, civility, and kindness.

If you own a personal kayak, canoe, or paddle board, 'Paddle4Peace' is looking for you. To take part in this awesome event, sponsor a paddler, or find out the event timeline, simply click on picatic.com.
