According to Governor Lamont, there's an excellent chance that the legalization of marijuana might become a reality in 2021. Haven't we all heard this one before? He made the statement when he was a guest on Yahoo Finance Live recently.

In case you weren't aware, five states passed legal marijuana measures on election day. Those states are Arizona, Mississippi, Montana, New Jersey, and South Dakota. The spread of legal weed in the United States is growing, and Connecticut needs to get on board. (Just my opinion)

Recently Lamont was a guest on the Yahoo show, Yahoo Finance Live. When he was asked about whether Connecticut would try again to legalize cannabis in 2021, he talked about how Connecticut was surrounded by states where marijuana is already legal. He went on to say,

I don't need a lot of people driving back and forth across the border. We're trying to keep people close to home as best we can right now. I think legalizing marijuana - doing that safely and making sure that no poison is laced in - I think is one to keep people closer to home.

Not only could the legalization of cannabis in Connecticut possibly slow down the spread of the coronavirus but let's not forget the tax revenue that the sale of recreational marijuana would generate. Connecticut reportedly has a current budget deficit of $2 billion. Am I wrong in assuming that the legalization of cannabis is the right thing to do for Connecticut?
