Local Holiday Toy and Food Drives Going On In Greater Danbury

It's the most wonderful time of the year, but not for everyone. Many families right here in our area may not have a Happy Thanksgiving or a Merry Christmas without your help.

Every year groups and organizations set up toy and food drives to help out those less fortunate, especially around the holiday season.

This year, like most years, there will be many families who need your help so their family can have food on their table for Thanksgiving, and toys to give their children on Christmas.

Here's a list of some of the toy and food drives that will be happening over the next few weeks in the Greater Danbury area.

Camping For Cans Food Drive- Friday Nov. 22, through Sunday Nov. 24

Townsquare Media Danbury is once again "Camping for Cans" to benefit the Hillside Food Outreach. This years food drive will be happening at BJ's in Brookfield. You can stop by anytime during the weekend. They are accepting non-perishable items to stock the Hillside Food Outreach warehouse shelves, they are also accepting monetary donations.

Bethel Police Department Food Drive- Saturday Nov. 23 from 10 AM to 3:30 PM

The Bethel Police Department along with the Stony Hill Four Corners Association, the Stony Hill and Hawleyville Fire Company's are holding a food drive at the Big Y on Stony Hill Road in Bethel. All food collected will benefit the Bethel and Newtown Food Banks.

Cornell Memorial & Brookfield Funeral Home Toy Drive- Now through December 4

The Cornell Memorial Home in Danbury, the Brookfield Funeral Home, and the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association are holding an ongoing toy drive. Toys and gift cards are being collected for Connecticut National Guard's Operation Elf, and the Connecticut Children's Medical Center. Donations can be dropped off at the collection box at the Cornell Memorial Home on White Street in Danbury.

Brookfield Police Dept. Stuff A Cruiser Toy Drive- Sat. Dec. 14th 10 AM to 4 PM

It's the 5th annual Stuff A Cruiser toy drive happening in the Kohl's/Five Guys parking lot on Federal Road. Toys and games for children from toddlers to adolescence will be collected and will be personally delivered to the children at Yale New Haven Hospital the following week. Not sure if you will be able to make it? Don’t worry, you can drop your new and unwrapped toy off at Brookfield Police Headquarters (63 Silvermine Road) anytime! They will have a box set up in their lobby!
