Mrs. Large and I like to get out of town and do our shopping, so we took a ride the other night to the Target in Southington, which is located right off of I-84's Exit 31. This is also the exit that you take to get to the massive ESPN Headquarters, Lake Compounce in Bristol and Southington's Cadillac Ranch.

Anyways, we noticed that there's been a lot of new construction going up just a bit North of the I-84 interchange. We took a ride by to see what was being built and found that there's a brand new LongHorn Steakhouse Restaurant. The official street location is 1020 West Street in Southington. According to their website, the restaurant is officially going to open up their doors for the first time on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.

LongHorn Steakhouse got it's start in Atlanta, Georgia back in 1981, currently owned by Orlando-based Darden Restaurants. There are over 500 Longhorn Steakhouses across the US, and this will be the company's 6th Connecticut location.

There are LongHorn Steakhouses currently in Enfield, Manchester, North Haven, Shelton and Waterford. The menu is classic American Steakhouse with various cuts of steak, chicken, ribs, pork and burgers available. Plenty of appetizer choices, soups, salads, desserts, and beverages.

I've never been to a Connecticut LongHorn Steakhouse, but I ate at one in Pennsylvania in the past and I thought that they made a damn good steak. There's a Chip's, Popeye's, Dunkin, and Subway all within a mile of the new Longhorn, so they should be a nice fit for the lunch and dinner crowd.
