Another one bites the dust! Microsoft has announced in a press release today that they will be closing all physical retail locations. Unfortunately, for users this means that the local Connecticut stores in the Danbury Fair Mall and the West Farms Shopping Mall will also be closing for good.

Microsoft has successfully taken a different approach to sales during this quarantine period, which has led to this decision. Sales have grown due to an ever-evolving product portfolio and growing digital offerings. Microsoft Corporate Vice President David Porter released a quote;

“We are grateful to our Microsoft Store customers and we look forward to continuing to serve them online and with our retail sales team at Microsoft corporate locations.”

Since closing stores in March because of COVID-19, Microsoft has realized employee potential. Microsoft Chief People Officer, Kathleen Hogan said;

“The Microsoft Store team has long been celebrated at Microsoft and embodies our culture.”

The retail store employees have worked tirelessly to assist education customers and small businesses remotely through support calls and virtual training. The same teams held over 14,000 online workshops, summer camp programs, and assisted with over 3,000 graduations, since March alone.

Moving forward, online customer care is going to transform in order to better serve customers. New 1:1 video chat support, online video demonstrations explaining products/services, and workshops are now available.
