Legalizing the sale of recreational marijuana in the state of Connecticut is a battle and debate that has no conclusion yet. Public hearing continue to be held, and one is happening again today.

The Connecticut legislature is holding a hearing today on another marijuana legalization bill. Less than a week ago it was the Connecticut legislation's General Law Committee that held a public hearing as Connecticut debated legalizing recreational marijuana.

Fast forward to today, and the discussion lives on.

As listed on cga.ct.gov among other items on the agenda for March 19th is this piece. The Judiciary Committee will hold a public hearing today:

S.B. No. 487 (RAISED) AN ACT CONCERNING THE LEGALIZATION, TAXATION AND REGULATION OF THE RETAIL SALE AND RECREATIONAL USE OF MARIJUANA AND CONCERNING THE PRODUCTION AND REGULATION OF HEMP.

This particular measure would create a system of taxed retail marijuana, letting adults possess up to an ounce of pot. While the state legislature has resisted previous efforts to legalize pot, with retail marijuana sales set to begin in July in Massachusetts, Connecticut lawmakers are taking a much closer look at legalization in our state.

I wouldn't be surprised to find big changes in Connecticut in regards to recreational marijuana by the end of 2018.
