I'm still in nostalgia mode from yesterday's "You Know You're From Newtown When..." so I thought it would be fun to see what everyone's first job was.

For me it was the Grand Union on Queen Street in Newtown. I started as a cashier and eventually ended up behind the front desk. I made a lot of good friends while I was there that I still talk to!

The store closed in 2001 and there is a Caraluzzi's Market in it's place. I'm glad something finally went in, we were starting to have an A&P situation going on there! (The old A&P in Newtown was vacant for many years before Big Y moved into the plaza)

I had friends who worked at Grand Union with me and others who worked at Stop and Shop, Pepperidge Farm (people loved the day old bread rack!), Ritz Camera Shop, the C. H. Booth Library, and Lexington Gardens.

What about you? What was your first job? It doesn't have to be a job that was in Newtown, that was just my experience. It's fun to walk down memory lane, especially since things are always changing.

Haven't gotten your first job yet? Well make sure you head down to the Danbury Career Fair on Friday, March 6 from 11 am. to 4 pm. Local employers will be onsite offering information to help you choose a career, in addition to taking resumes for open positions.

Are you an employer looking to offer a talented person a career? Sign up to be a Danbury Career Fair employer. You get get all of the details here.
