Firefighters in New Milford responded to a structure fire early Tuesday morning (May 28) at Harrybrooke Village Condominiums.

When the fire department arrived on the scene shortly before 5:00 AM, heavy smoke was pushing from the attic of the entire building and the fire, which spanned three floors, was consuming a portion of the rear of the building as well.  The fire was quickly upgraded and a second alarm was sounded, bringing help from Northville, Gaylordsville, and Brookfield to the scene.

According to New Milford Fire Department's Facebook page, no one was injured in the fire, smoke detectors helped alert many of the residents and New Milford Firefighters evacuated the rest of the building.

The bulk of fire was knocked down quickly and the blaze in the extension in the attic was brought under control shortly before 7:00 AM.

The Red Cross is currently on the scene helping those who were displaced by the fire and social services have also been contacted and will be providing assistance as well.

The town’s Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
