New Locally Owned Pet Store Opening in Ridgefield

I just came across some great news for pet owners in Ridgefield, a new pet store is going to be opening soon, and the location should be very familiar to people who shopped for their little guys before.

Choice Pet is going to open up in the former Pet Valu location at 125 Danbury Road in Ridgefield, it's located in the big Stop & Shop and Kohls plaza, right next to Ridgefield Liquors and My Eye Dr.

Choice Pet is a locally-owned pet store, they started off in Norwalk in 1979 as Choice Pet Supply. They now operate 13 store in Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey. The other Connecticut locations are in Danbury, Monroe, North Haven, Stamford, Norwalk, Westport, Greenwich, and Fairfield. They have a couple of locations nearby in New York, in Carmel, Somers, Hartsdale, and Scarsdale.

PetValu shut down all of their locations in the United States exactly a month ago, their last official day was December 13, 2020.  PetValu still operates internationally in Canada, but when the stores closed in the US, it left a pretty big retail hole here in Connecticut. Over 30 stores shut down, including stores locally in Ridgefield, Danbury, Southbury, and Bethel.

There is no date given as far as an opening date for Choice Pet's Ridgefield location. I'm assuming that since it's the same category of business, there won't have to be any major renovations to the store, hopefully it's just cosmetic, and they should be up and running sometime in the next few weeks.
