National Weather Service Investigates Possible Tornado In Connecticut

More wild weather slammed into Connecticut yesterday afternoon, and the National Weather Service is investigating a possible tornado in the Hamden Area.

The skies darkened, the wind started to gust, and storms moved through our area. Towns like Kent, Waterbury, Naugatuck, North Haven, Hamden, Bethany, and Madison got hit pretty hard as trees fell knocking out power lines and leaving many without power. According to newstimes.com, Governor Ned Lamont deployed members of the National Guard Thursday night to some of the hardest hit areas.

Today, the National Weather Service is investigating a possible tornado in the Hamden and Bethany areas. The storm produced tremendous wind gusts of 92 mph in North Haven and 69 mph in New Haven.

The storm, and all the power outages that were caused by it came just a few weeks after Tropical Storm Isaias did some major damage in the state, so now it's more clean up and power outages. It's the National Weather Service's job to investigate and determine if it was actually a tornado or a micro or macroburst.

The investigation will determine the path of the storm, and the length of the damage path. That will give them the information needed to figure out if it was indeed a tornado, and what the intensity of the tornado was.
