This week, we go to the Caribbean with our pet of the week, and want to introduce you to Panchita, who came to New Milford as a rescue from Puerto Rico.

Panchita, the feminine version of Pancho, is an evacuee from Puerto Rico. One of the rescues that the Animal Welfare Society partners with asked for some help with some of the dogs that they had rescued after the floods and earthquakes, so now Panchita is looking for a new forever home.

Panchita is a 7-year-old Basset Hound, Jack Russel Terrier mix and weighs about 34 pounds. She's a lively girl that loves attention, walks well on leash and has also been spayed. Because she doesn't get along all that well with other dogs and cats, Panchita would do best in an adult home with no other pets.

She loves people, would love to snuggle with you on the couch and, as you can see from the video, is a big fan of the belly rub.

They’re open Tuesday from 11 AM to 7 PM, and Wednesday through Saturday from 11 AM to 2 PM.
