Phase One of reopening Connecticut happens tomorrow (May 20.) As the state continues to gradually open back up, Governor Lamont has issued an executive order detailing which businesses will be allowed to open next, in June. He also issued some clarifications for businesses in Phase One reopening.

Hair salons and barbershops, which were originally part of the Phase 1 reopening, have had their openings pushed back to June 1. This came after pushback from the industry, many of whom said they needed more time to get their businesses ready and sort out safety measures.

June 20 will be the reopening date for gyms and fitness centers, movie theaters, and Off-Track betting parlors.

Day camps will be allowed to reopen as of June 20, but overnight camps will still be shut down. Health and safety guidelines for day camps will be forthcoming.

Summer learning programs offered by municipal or regional boards of education will not be allowed to start until July 6. again, safety guidelines specific to schools will be coming. Private and non-public schools are encouraged to follow the same guidelines.

In addition, the restaurants and clubs that are allowed to open for outdoor dining as of May 20 must include food service to be allowed to open until at least June 20. Mixed drinks to go in sealed containers are now officially OK, as long as the business' liquor permit allows it and the sale is consistent with local or municipal liquor ordinances.

It's important to note that these all fluid guidelines and are subject to change as the reopening of the state is and continues to be a work in progress. We'll keep you updated.
