Dirt bag. Lowlife. And whatever other term you'd care to use in this case.

To protect and serve. That is indeed what we look to our local police departments to do. Sadly, so many police officers and departments have been under fire in the recent past. I think most of the general public continues to view our law enforcement officials in an incredibly positive light.

With that in mind, I find it so reprehensible that an individual would impersonate an office of the law and commit a heinous act. But that apparently is exactly what happened in Bridgeport.

In a story from ctpost.com, a man from Derby Connecticut has been accused of the unthinkable, posing as a Bridgeport police officer and sexually abusing a woman. Jorge Santiago is accused of attacking the woman in July of 2017. Santiago was arrested this week on a warrant stemming from the incident. Bridgeport Police have charged Santiago with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, first-degree threatening and impersonation of a police officer.

According to ctpost.com Bridgeport Police Capt. Roderick Porter is asking if anyone experienced a similar situation to contact Bridgeport Police at 203-576-TIPS (8477).

Awful for the woman in question. Awful too for the people of Bridgeport and the Bridgeport police department that depraved individuals like this are out there. Hopefully no one else was assaulted by him, but if they have been I hope they come forward.
