A Bethel man has been arrested and charged with indecent exposure after police say he was seen pleasuring himself in a Newtown parking lot.

According to the Newtown Police Department, they received a complaint some time last week that described a fully exposed man sitting in a parked car, masturbating in the Sand Hill Shopping Plaza as a woman reportedly walked by. The complaint prompted an investigation and members of the NPD began surveillance of the area.

This afternoon around noontime, police say that using a female officer as a decoy, 27-year-old Adrian Sime of Bethel was found to be "masturbating in his vehicle with his penis exposed in the front seat of his 2018 Honda Accord."

Sime was subsequently arrested and aside from the aforementioned indecent exposure charge, he was slapped with possession of marijuana as well. The NPD says that they fully expect more charges to be filed against Sime related to a previous incident.

In a statement about the incident in which Sime has been accused, Newtown's Lt. Aaron Bahamonde said, "It’s pretty sick and disgusting that this individual felt he could victimize innocent women who were minding their business shopping and have to be confronted by this behavior."

Officers say that when they told Sime he was going to be arrested for the incident, he reportedly replied that he could do whatever he wants to himself inside his own car. After the police quickly informed him that this was certainly not the case if said car was in public view, Sime allegedly promised to not do it again now that he knows.
