Are you ready for this?! The United Soccer League has just announced that a new pro soccer team will be coming to Hartford!

The new team name will be 'Hartford Athletic.' Why Athletic you ask? 'Athletic' is used by soccer clubs around the world and Bruce Mandell, the president and CEO of Hartford Sports Group told the Hartford Courant:

We want this team to represent the capital city of our great state, but no pro soccer team has used that name. We're now the first!

Connecticut's new pro soccer team will play their home games at Dillion Stadium which will be completely renovated thanks to $10 million in state funds with the Hartford Sports Group also contributing millions of dollars.

One of the earliest decisions said Mandell was to use the blue and green colorway reminiscent of the Hartford Whalers and now the Hartford Yard Goats. So far, there's been close to 1,000 commitments from future season ticket holders.
