A Kent man was arrested for allegedly stealing a credit card from a car.

On Friday, members of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office arrested 37-year-old Ernest G. Morrissey of the Town of Kent for fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony.

The arrest was the result of a joint investigation by Kent Police and the Sheriff’s Office after a report to Kent Police of a larceny of a credit card from a motor vehicle.

During the investigation officers determined Morrissey was in possession of the reported stolen credit card while in the Town of Carmel, police say.

Members of the Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal of Investigation (BCI) responded to assist and arrested Morrissey on Friday.

Morrissey was released in his own recognizance pending a Jan. 9 appearance in the Town of Carmel Justice Court.

If found guilty of the felony charge, Morrissey could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
