Reasons Why Connecticut is a ‘Preserved Haven’ From COVID Surge

Why have cases of coronavirus leveled off in CT while other states are seeing a massive upsurge in cases?

According to Dr. Rockman Ferrigno, Chief of the Emergency Department at Bridgeport Hospital, the leveling off of cases in Connecticut is due to a combination of factors. Here's what he told Hearst Media Connecticut,

We're in this preserved haven if you will. I think a lot of it is related to our state interest in everybody wearing masks. And everybody looking at what activities we're doing and making sure we're safe. We feel fortunate about that.

I think Governor Lamont is doing an exemplary job managing the pandemic in our state. He has been slow to open the country until the metrics were right. The big question everyone is wondering about is, "What's going to happen when schools and colleges reopen?"  

In Connecticut, between July 5 and July 11, 115 new COVID cases were reported among 20-29-year-olds, which has prompted Connecticut's colleges and universities to step up their game as they get ready for classes.

UCONN students are required to quarantine for two weeks before they are allowed to move back on campus. Capacity at residence halls will be reduced. Online classes will be recognized, and in-person classes will be limited. All students and teachers will be required to wear masks in the classroom.

You can spend hours searching for conspiracy theories for reasons not to wear a mask. You can argue that your civil liberties are being violated or you can be a tough guy and say that nobody is going to tell you what to do. Wearing a mask is not a political weapon to be argued about, it's science! Hundreds of thousands of health care professionals will tell you it's a proven scientific fact that wearing a face-covering can cut the spread of COVID-19. This is the reason Connecticut COVID cases have leveled off. So do the right thing and wear the damn mask when you're out in public out of respect for your fellow man!
