Triple Play Sports Bar and Grill had been a fixture at 16 Straits Turnpike in Watertown for years, then, the pandemic hit. Suddenly, there were no sports, and eating inside restaurants was prohibited. The sports bar concept at Triple Play had run it's course, so, they closed down permanently in June and announced a re-branding as 16 Straits Taps & Tavern, and that it would be opening soon. Well, the new owners took to their official Facebook page to announce that they are officially opening their doors on Monday August 17, 2020, and they put up a couple of images of their new menu.

Looking at the menu selections at 16 Straits, the Spanakopita appetizer is a different choice among the usual suspects of Nachos, Quesadillas, Fried Calamari, and Chicken Wings and Tenders. There's a nice selection of flat breads and salads, but 5 different decadent adult mac & cheeses sound really good. For entrees and mains, 16 Straits has a nice selection of burgers, sandwiches, wraps, tacos, and various sides. 16 Straits also touts their 1,300 square foot outdoor patio, as all restaurants have had to adapt to the new social distancing guidelines.

With Taps in the name of the place, you can be sure that there will be a wide selection of your favorite cold brews. As I drove by this morning to take that glorious photo that you see above, I saw a loaded liquor distributor truck pulling up their driveway for an early morning delivery. Good luck 16 Straits.
