Severe Thunderstorm Watch in Effect Throughout Greater Danbury

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch and a Hazardous Weather Outlook has been put into effect for most of Connecticut, including Greater Danbury and other parts of Fairfield County.

According to the National Weather Service, residents should be aware that the watch, which was announced at around 1:30 PM on Sunday, June 28, will remain in place through 8:00 PM. The watch also applies to the southeast portion of New York and northeast New Jersey. The Connecticut counties that are included are Fairfield, Middlesex, Tolland, Hartford, New Haven, Windham, Litchfield and New London.

The NWS notes that some of the oncoming storms could produce hail, heavy wind gusts, and of course, rain, which could amount to a quarter of an inch of precipitation. The thunderstorms are forecasted to occur mainly before 10:00 PM on Sunday night.

Tonight's stormy weather is predicted to be followed by a rainy week for the most part, with high humidity and thunderstorms in the forecast each day.
