Should There Be a Handshake Ban At Work? Listeners Respond
It's just a sign of the times, as some companies consider banning all physical contact in the workplace.
Just when you thought you heard it all, along comes the latest in unnecessary political correctness. Now this has absolutely nothing to do with spreading germs and trying to keep employees healthy so they don't miss work. Some companies are actually considering banning handshaking in the office. So if you've ever felt a little uncomfortable by a greeting at work, soon you may not be able to make any kind of contact at all.
A new survey by total jobs found out that three out of four people want all physical contact banned in the workplace. The whole concept is to remove any confusion over what kind of touch is appropriate and what kind is not. The #MeToo movement has prompted employers to consider adding more clear-cut policies in the workplace. It's also a way companies hope to avoid expensive sexual harassment claims.
No employers have gone as far as to ban handshakes yet, but experts are urging workers to be aware of all policies at your workplace.
