Soon it Will Be Easier to Drive Electric Vehicles in New York

If you’ve ever considered purchasing an electric car, this might be a good time to do it, because New York is serious about giving you more incentive to do so.

Governor Cuomo is introducing a campaign to increase the number of electric car charging stations throughout the state. His plan is to add 450 electric car chargers to the existing amount in the state via the ChargeNY initiative which reports the cost to the state will be around 4.8 million dollars. USNews says these new charging stations will be all over New York, including lots in the Hudson Valley, Westchester County, New York City, and Long Island.

So, some 3,000 plug-in electric vehicle (or PEV) charging stations will be available to drivers in total by 2018 according to New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (or NYSERDA). This should help charge 30,000-40,000 electric cars and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40 percent by 2030.
