This week we have another featured pet that has had a rough life. She was adopted, but was returned to the Animal Welfare Society when the owner got a new puppy.

It's a very familiar story, dog gets adopted as a puppy, owner gets a new puppy, and then returns the adopted dog because the dogs don't get along the way they were hoping.

That's exactly what happened to Parsley, this weeks featured pet. She was adopted five years ago as a puppy from the Animal Welfare Society. Now she's about six years old and looking for a new forever home.

Parsley is a Terrier mix, is spayed, and has all her vaccines. She would love to find a home where she's the only dog, or with another dog with low energy. She weighs 15 pounds, and get's along fine with people. Don't miss out on this cutie, she probably won't be available at the shelter for that long, so act now.

Now, because of the COVID-19 restrictions, if you're interested in adopting one of the featured pets, or any dog or cat at the shelter, first fill out an application on their site at aws-shelter.org. Then, once your application is approved, you can call them at 860-354-1350 and schedule your one-on-one limited contact meeting.

The shelter is always in need of items to help keep the animals safe and clean. Right now, they are looking for bleach, paper towels and dry cat food.

If you can contribute, you can drop off the items at the shelter at 8 Dodd Road in New Milford. Just let them know you're going to drop something off, then you can do it with no contact by just leaving it in front of their building. You can also check the Animal Welfare website for the Amazon wish list, and have the items delivered right to the shelter.

Also the 'Pet Thrift Shop' is back at the Animal Welfare Society starting this Saturday. When planning to attend, please be sure to wear your face mask and observe social distancing while on the property. Click/tap for information flyer.
