For those who just don't want to see summer end, your in luck because starting Monday it will be summer in Brookfield all year long.

The Greenknoll branch of the Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut is set to open it's new Aquatic Center and that means it's swimming year round in Brookfield.

It will also mean no more clamoring for time in the facilities lone indoor pool because their outdoor Olympic-sized swimming pool will be covered with a 15,000-square-foot inflatable bubble tent, allowing members to swim outside year-round.

According to newstimes.com, the facility is expected to open on Monday (October 2nd), all that's standing in the way is a few light post's that will be installed and final town approval.

The 2.6 million dollar upgrade to the YMCA facility comes at a good time as enrollment is up at around 12,000, and the extra swimming space in the colder weather will enable them to add more lessons, and more competitive events. Even the Brookfield High School Swim Team will have a new local home.

Patty Kane who is the YMCA's regional marketing and communications director told newstimes.com...

“When we take on these projects, it’s not just the facility we are improving, we’re really trying to build a stronger community.”
