The Connecticut State Police have announced that they have placed a New Haven man and woman, and a Waterbury woman under arrest and they all face multiple charges.  The alleged suspects crashed a stolen vehicle in Prospect, and were taken into custody after attempting to steal a vehicle, while the driver was still inside. The subsequent investigation caused two local schools to go into lockdown.

According to the Connecticut State Police, and WTNH.com,  on Thursday 10/1/20, Jahseim Cherry, and Ciera Jones-Whitfield of New Haven, and Nashaly Rodriguez-Roman of Waterbury, were arrested and taken into custody after a wild incident.

The suspects allegedly crashed a vehicle that they had had been driving, tried to carjack someone, and then tried to flee the scene on foot. State Police determined that the initial vehicle that the trio had been driving, and crashed, had been stolen earlier in the day out of New Haven. Jones-Whitfield was taken into custody shortly after the incident, which occurred near Rt. 69 (New Haven Road) and the intersections of Radio Tower Road and Kluge Road. Cherry and Rodriguez-Roman fled the scene on foot, according to witnesses.

Prospect and State Police Officers and K-9's were brought in to search for the suspects, and during the investigation, Long River Middle School and Prospect Elementary School went into partial lockdown. Cherry and Rodriguez-Roman were located, and taken into custody.

Cherry faces 1 count of 2nd Degree Larceny, 1 count of Robbery by Carjacking, and 1 count of Interference/Resisting with an Officer.

Rodriguez/Roman was charged with 1 count of 2nd Degree Larceny, 1 count of 3rd Degree Robbery, and 1 count of Interference/Resisting with an Officer.

Jones-Whitfield faces 1 count of 2nd Degree larceny, 1 count of Robbery by Carjacking, 1 count of Interference/Resisting with an Officer, and 1 count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

All were taken into custody, were unable to post bond, and were all slated to be arraigned this morning at Waterbury Superior Court.
