According to the Fairfield Patch, new developments have come to light in the violent domestic dispute at a Mountain Laurel Road home in Fairfield.

51-year-old Christopher Andrews was shot and killed by veteran Fairfield police officer, Sean Fenton, around 6am after the officer warned Andrews several times to drop a bloody knife that Andrews was holding, which he refused to do.

According to the Connecticut Post, Andrews was suffering from depression due to the recent death of his mother, and was still disturbed by his brother's death in the collapse of the World Trade towers on 9/11. He was also taking medication to help him sleep, which family members thought might have been the source of his sudden mood swings.

Andrew's wife, Kathleen, was stabbed in the face and badly beaten. The Post also reported that the family's oldest son wrestled a bat away from his father, which he used to bludgeon other family members. Kathleen was taken to Bridgeport Hospital and is in critical condition. The couple's 12-year-old son, also badly injured, was air lifted to Yale/New Haven Hospital. The couple's 13 and 15-year-old children were taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center but have since been released.

The community has already come out in droves by launching a GoFundMe account for the family, which has currently grown to around $208,000!
