UPDATE: Some lanes have reopened and State Police say 25 vehicles were involved in a chain reaction crash. The Tappan Zee Bridge iced over causing multiple accidents and forcing officials to close the bridge in both directions.

Just before 10 a.m., there were multiple reports of a serious car accident on the Mario Cuomo Bridge, or what many still call the Tappan Zee Bridge. The bridge quickly iced over during the rush hour commute, causing officials to close the bridge in both directions, reports NBC.

State Police told NBC that there were multiple accidents on the bridge involving multiple injuries and car crashes. It's unclear how many people are hurt or how many vehicles were involved.

On Twitter, Rockland Fires said there was at least one entrapment. While Kempter's Fire Wire tweeted about at least 7 injuries with two people unconscious.
