Teenage Shooting Survivor from Sandy Hook Tells Her Story

On the morning of December 14, 2012, Ashley was 7 years old and in her second grade classroom with her classmates and their teacher, Abbey Clements, when the shooting began.

These are Ashley's words taken from ctinsider.com about one of the worst parts of that morning when the shooting stopped.

 The police came and got us, and they told us to put our hands on the person in front of us and close our eyes, and they led us out of the building, and I know a few of my friends didn't close their eyes and they are stilled so scarred because they saw their classmates.

She is now a 15-year-old high school student, and it was Mrs. Clements who encouraged Ashley to tell her story and "experience the power in telling your truth".

Another reason Ashley came forward was her anger at extremists like U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene who deny the shootings never took place and that it was just a huge conspiracy. In the video, she says, "I can't give you proof except for my trauma." The video was released by a gun violence prevention group and given to the news outlet 'NowThis,' which posted the video. Ashley remembers that morning like it was yesterday,

It was so loud. Mrs. Clements dragged over a desk, and she was trying to read a book to us but her hands were shaking a lot, so it was really hard to stay calm.

She and her classmates at the age of 15 still have vivid memories of that morning on Dec. 14, 2012, which she and second grade classmates will never forget. The following is Ashley's complete seven-minute video.
