New York State is comprised of 62 counties in all. That's a lot of counties and all of them were surveyed recently by experts to find the healthiest of the 62. The number one, most healthy county in New York state was Rockland County. Westchester County placed at number three, moving up in position from last year, and Putnam County placed as number five on the list. These findings were the results of a national study by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute, and were published in LoHud.

The study shows that in Rockland, Westchester, and Putnam Counties large numbers of people are for the most part, eating healthy, exercising and are non smokers. Saratoga County which is north of Albany came in second on the list. In fourth place was Nassau County on Long Island.

The Lower Hudson Valley region has regularly placed in the top 10 healthiest counties to live, within the state since 2011.
