Hey, Yankee and Red Sox fans, the rivalry is officially back, and boy, does it feel good again.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, there was once an intense rivalry between two baseball teams. One was from the Bronx in New York, the other from 4 Yawkey Way in Boston, Mass.

They called themselves the Yankees (The Evil Empire) and the Red Sox (The Underdogs) and when they got together, worlds would collide.

For as long as I can remember, there was always something explosive about a Yankees Red Sox game. You never knew when the battle was going to escalate, but you knew it would. It was two teams that just didn't like each other.

The teams have been battling for close to 120 years. They've played literally thousands of games against each other, so naturally, tensions have occasionally boiled over.

Remember the 1976 brawl with Lou Pinella and Carlton Fisk?

Or how about the 2003 brawl between Pedro Martinez and the entire Yankees team?

Or the one that happened a year later in 2004 between Alex Rodriguez and Jason Varitek.

Those were definitely the good old days. Then, the unthinkable happened, the Red Sox actually won not one, not two, but three World Series titles in less then a decade. When that happened, both teams said goodbye to the hated rivalry and there was relative peace.

Well, Wednesday night in Boston, the eerie silence and peace was broken when Red Sox pitcher Joe Kelly threw at, and hit, the Yankees Tyler Austin. It was one quick pitch for man, one giant leap in the Yankees and Red Sox historical rivalry.

Now one can argue that Austin didn't have it coming after sliding into second base, spikes high, trying to break up a double play. Whatever the reason, if you're a Yankee or Red Sox fan, you just can't wait for the next 16 times these two teams will meet this season.

So hold on to your hats, and make sure your ready to duck, 'cause the rivalry is back, baby — and it's awesome.
