Well the Nascar season will soon be here towards the end of February with the Great American Race, The Daytona 500!  Over the last number of years, the way the championship's been crowned has changed quite a bit. Nascar professionals and fans call it "The Chase".

Basically it started with 10 drivers for a 10-race series, they later added 2 Wild Cards for 2 more drivers to be added and whoever had the most points at the end of The Chase series would win the entire season.

Now it looks like the Chase is changing again. Now, Nascar says there will be 16 drivers during the 10-race series, and 4 drivers will be eliminated after every 3 races. Once they get to the last race, whoever does best out of the 4 drivers will win the season. Nascar says there will not be any extra points or wild cards..we'll see.

Why can't we just eliminate the Chase as a whole and just crown the champion based on their success all year? Seems too complicated for me, ha.
