As is the case many times, the dogs and cats that we feature in our Pet of the Week segment have a sad backstory, and unfortunately, that's the case again with our two featured pets.

This week, we have Tuky and Chenchita, two cute little Chihuahuas who were surrendered to the Animal Welfare Society when they got sick and their owner couldn't afford to care for them.

Tuky is a six-year-old male who developed an abscess on his tail, so it was removed, and he's doing fine. Chenchita who is a fifteen-year-old female was thought to be a lot sicker than she was. She did have some fluid in her lungs, but when she was treated with medicine, she recovered in just a short time.

Now, these two little ones are looking for someone to step up and give them a chance at a new forever home.

They’re open Tuesday from 11 AM to 7 PM, and Wednesday through Saturday from 11 AM to 2 PM.

Keep in mind the Animal Welfare Society is undergoing construction to serve you and the animals better, so just them call before you go.
