Two Danbury men were arrested on drug charges after a routine traffic stop took a turn against their favor.

According to a press release from the Danbury Police Department, Officer Relyea and new K-9 partner, Gunner, pulled over Frederico Mateo-Ogando and Tahjae Roberts, when a registration check showed that the plate didn't match the car they were driving.

After smelling what was believed to be a strong odor of marijuana, the officer initiated a search of the vehicle.

Officers allegedly found about an ounce of marijuana, several Xanax pills, and $680 that police believe is from selling illegal drugs.

Both men were arrested and charged, and were held on $5,000 bond each.
