Volunteer Coach Arrested Following Sexual Abuse Investigation

A volunteer coach at a Dutchess County high school has been arrested after he allegedly engaged in sexual contact with student. 

New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at SP Dover have arrested Kristian Murtagh, 21 of North East, NY.

The arrest stems from an investigation into a report that Murtagh, a volunteer coach at the Webutuck High School in the Town of North East, had engaged in sexual contact with a 16-year-old student of the school.

Murtagh has been charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and two counts of Sexual Abuse second-degree.

Murtagh was arraigned in the Town of North East Court and release on his own recognizance. An Order of Protection has been issued ordering him to refrain from all contact with the victim and the school.

He is due back in court at a later date.
