Waterbury Police Arrest 51 in Large-Scale Guns and Drugs Bust
135 law enforcement officers conducted a massive raid in Waterbury looking for heroin, guns, and cash!
According to a press release from the Waterbury PD, the investigation called "Operation Raw Deal" resulted in 51 arrests, along with the seizure of guns, $15,000 in cash, and thousands of bags of heroin ready to be sold.
The raids began bright and early at 5 am this past Friday morning, May 17. The investigation which began this past September stemmed from the rise in heroin overdoses and deaths in Waterbury and was aimed at mid-level narcotics dealers.
From the 135 law enforcement officers, thirteen arrest teams were given the go-ahead for the massive heroin busts throughout the city of Waterbury which netted several guns, over $15,000, two cars and both raw and ready to sell heroin.
Also involved in the arrests were local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies including Connecticut State Police, the federal Drug Enforcement Agency, and the ATFE Bureau.
The investigation and the arrest phase of “Operation Raw Deal” remains open and active. The Vice and Intelligence Division of the Waterbury Police Department has active arrest warrants for 11 remaining suspects.
