What Are the Most Popular Halloween Candies in CT and NY?

It’s the most wonderful time of the year if you’re a fan of haunted anything and eating candy. Halloween is almost here, and we have the breakdown of the most popular candies in New York and Connecticut.

In 2013, Poughkeepsie was named the top town to trick or treat in according to the Washington Post. Philadelphia tops the list this year, while both New York and Connecticut are no where to be found. And I think I know why. CandyStore.Com compiled a list of the most popular Halloween candy in each state. They gathered their data by tracking, by pound, what type of candy was purchased in the three months leading up to Halloween.

New York and Connecticut both have some interesting results, which makes me think that is the reason we are not even considered for best trick or treating towns.

New York:
Sour Patch Kids 198,016 lbs
Candy Corn 95,047 lbs
Reese's Peanut Butter Cups 39,603 lbs

Connecticut:
Almond Joy 2,169 lbs
Milky Way 1,366 lbs
M&M's 910 lbs

Okay, so maybe it's just New York with the poor candy taste. Sour Patch Kids? Really? CT is coming in strong with Almond Joys, but that may have something to do with the fact that the Peter-Paul Company which manufactured Almond Joy early on was based in Connecticut.
