WalletHub just came out with a new list of the Best and Worst States to be a Police Officer.

The most impactful data factored into the survey was salary. It turns out that New York and Connecticut cops across the board make some of the highest salaries anywhere, because on this list, New York ranked number two, and Connecticut number three, out of all 50 of the United States, plus the District of Columbia. They also considered benefits, on the job safety, quality of life, and more.

Nationally the average salary for police is $62,960 annually, which is higher than the nation’s average of $50,620 for all occupations factored together. The worst places to be a cop are Louisiana, followed by Arkansas coming in at 50 and 51 respectively. The number one state to work in law enforcement is North Dakota.
